Spiritual Gangster Part 3- Fringe Benefits

Shavuah Tov!! In Hebrew that means "have a great week". It's customary to wish people that as soon as the sabbath concludes. Which is so nice that right away we are taught to put our best foot forward. As soon as one door closes, another opens. Such is the gift of a whole other week. Wishing others well is a beautiful way to begin anything.

This third Synagogue look is extremely comfortable. I never wear anything that isn't comfortable since that's just annoying to me, but this outfit feels yummy. If I feel like a sausage in my clothes I will be pissed, and will most certainly not have a spiritual experience whatsoever. Counterproductive.

Here I'm wearing a stretchy black Norma Kamali turtleneck dress, a foundation piece. I get a ton of use from this sexy basic, on its own or as a building block. I've worn it with huge gold earrings, and even under an ornate McQueen body chain that resembles a web with a dangling spider. YAASSSSS. The statement vest is vintage. The leather fringes are so rock and roll. It's a great way to incorporate appropriately dressy denim. Synagogue is not really the place for jeans, but this works. Chunky black patent leather DKNY military boots ground the look. Modern silver rings from W. Britt, my favorite jewelry designer. Industrial jewelry here, this is not the time to bust out anything delicate. The black leather vintage men's newsboy cap may in theory have appeared too matchy matchy (ew), but it works. The mirror is the best and final way to know that. Sometimes you just have to try it. It's like misspelling a word, it just feels wrong if it IS wrong. When in doubt, play it safe and omit. A misplaced hat will not be missed if not worn, but it can make you look like an idiot if it simply doesn't belong. Better to be a non idiot without a hat, right?
