Entrenched 3
/This is perhaps one of my favorite looks ever. Like, legit ever. I'd never worn these Norma Kamali pieces together, but they are from the same line. I have a really cute dress from that collection as well. I adore bell bottoms, and wear these a lot. They're so different than a standard denim. I love the dark wash and all the distressed and frayed edges and seams. These pants are actually one of my weight gauging wardrobe items.
I stopped weighing myself on a scale two years ago. It is one of the best decisions I ever made. I was mentally enslaved by the number, and would stress over even half a pound. That is not a way to live. I wish I'd come to that realization sooner. Since I axed my scale, my body is more consistent than ever before. I have no idea what my weight is in numbers. When a doctor's office needs to weigh me, I don't look. I don't want to know. I want to know how I look in the mirror, how I feel, how my clothes fit. It's interesting, since the scale no longer had control over my food intake, I automatically assumed full control mentally. I started working out more, and being more cognizant of my food intake. I love food. Cooking it, eating it. Food is love, creation, and life. There's a reason good food is called "soul food". Bottom line, we all have items in our closet that tell us if we are in the right zone, or if we need to put down the brownie (it's ok, it's only a brownie. It will be there next week. Enjoy it when you feel good about eating it:).
These pants are one such item for me. When they fit right, I feel unstoppable. Such is the power of fierce fashion. It's a mood enhancer. Paired with the matching denim trench, and stark white Maison Margiela booties, I felt like Bianca Jagger in the 70's👅. Head to toe denim in dramatic shapes can easily overwhelm, but the fit of both pieces is so on point, that it didn't look like I was drowning in a sea of material. This is a strong look, achieved by almost zero accessories and natural makeup. Too much obvious effort otherwise. Plus, denim is a casual fabric at its heart. Honor that by leaving it alone. I have always loved a pantsuit, and this trench version is a super fly take. You don't need to be so coordinated if you don't have/can't find exactly this. A classic denim bell bottom and tightly belted trench in any material will do just fine. Pop that collar, push those sleeves up, and meet me downtown with Mick and Keith. Rock on.
