Entrenched 2

The coolest moments in life are often the ones handed to us randomly. The unplanned. Like these elephant batik harem pants, that I spotted in a tiny kiosk, after emerging from an underground biblical water tunnel in Israel. True story. Our family was fortunate to spend our third consecutive Passover in Israel this April. One of our activities, which was my favorite, was wading through knee deep water in this insanely dark and narrow tunnel from the reign of Hezekiah during biblical times. Total throwback to the teen tour I went on when I was 16.

I love anything that involves water (I'm on the cusp of Aquarius), and my brother in law and I had such fun with whichever kids braved the tunnel. At the tunnel's end, in keeping with any tourist trap, there was a gift shop that you pass on the way out. This one was not fancy or large, and was pretty low key, but it had these cool pants hanging on a clothes line. Bingo! I love bringing home cultural gems to remind me of my travels, and I fell instantly in love with these handmade, rando pants. I knew they'd always give me feel good vibes from the Middle East, or as Ali G put it, "Middle Earth". I bought them in burgundy and grey. Elastic waist, flared legs, so cool and comfortable. Exactly what you'd want to put on after getting splashed in the dark by your family😜.

I didn't tailor the ankles ( I might still or might not),  but I folded them in and cuffed, like we used to do in the 80's. Very reminiscent of pajama bottoms. I dressed it up with a silk J Crew camisole that I loosely half tucked. The right half tuck can literally make your outfit. Practice in the mirror, it's the only way. I know that sounded asinine, but it's a major fashion tip. Funky, statement sneakers brings the pants into a massively current mood. The neutral,  vintage Marc Jacobs trench is unexpected, which is why it looks so effortlessly cool. Major "who knew?" factor, which we love.

It's such a relaxed look that it had to be belted in the back, left hanging open in the front. A cinched waist doesn't belong here, it's a slouchy feel overall. Burgundy, cream, gold, neutral khaki. It's a warm, soft color palette.  This outfit is perfect for one of those days in the city when you actually want to feel like a person (Moms, treat yourself!). It translates really well into night since the silk top can be dressier. I happen to be a big sneakers for all occasions gal, but a dressier neutral shoe would work here too. I know I just said "dressier" twice, the word just fit both times😆. Gold jewelry in the same color family to maintain the warmth. If I wasn't so terrified of heights, I might just hop on an 🐘right now... Nah, I'll just stick to the pants. I'm so glad that you're in the trenches with me.

Love you the most, LB
